DERMATOLOGY CONSULTING CLINIC REMAINS AVAILABLE FOR URGENT POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING CASES (e.g. SKIN CANCER). FOR ALL ELSE WE CAN OFFER VIRTUAL CONSULTATIONS AND TELEPHONE CONSULATIONS.
Everyone at Dermatology Consulting is taking the Coronavirus (Covid-19) extremely seriously and are following all the government and Public Health England guidelines as they develop. For that reason, we have ceased all face-to-face cosmetic procedures and non-urgent face-to-face consultations and treatments and are offering virtual or telephone consultations.
However, where necessary we will make arrangements for in-person assessments of urgent potentially life-threatening dermatology problems such as suspected severe skin cancer. The decision about whether an in-person assessment is necessary will be taken after:
- a video or telephone consultation as a preliminary assessment of the medical problem, and
- a discussion of the clinical risks and benefits of attending in person, and
- an explanation of our Coronavirus safety measures to check whether you will be able to comply with them.
In cases where we recommend seeing patients face-to-face (e.g. certain serious forms of skin cancer) we would not charge an additional consultation fee. If a medical test or procedure is required this would then be charged at the usual rate. If a face-to-face consultation is required we will be taking steps to minimise the risk of Coronavirus infection for patients, staff and the wider community from Coronavirus infection, and we will require you to comply with those measures. The steps will depend on what the current guidance is at the time, but could include:
- Checking the temperature of all patients and staff on arrival before they can enter
- Use of hand sanitiser gel on arrival and leaving
- Frequent use of medical grade disinfectant on hard surfaces throughout the day and deep cleaning of the clinic every night
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment by medical staff, if appropriate, for close contact/procedures
- Keeping the number of people in our spacious waiting room to a minimum
- Offering the option for patients to come straight from our carpark in to the consulting room
We realise that distressing dermatology problems (even where they are not urgent or life-threatening) continue alongside this pandemic, and we are still available to help with medical skin conditions by offering virtual or telephone consultations on all aspects of skin concern. Whether you are one of our existing patients or a new patient, if have any concerns about your skin you are welcome to contact us by phone or email.
Pharmacy and prescriptions: Our service is presently operating as usual. We are offering our full pharmacy service including repeat prescriptions which we are able to post out to your UK registered address. Please call us if you need any of your dermatology medications.
Skin care products: Supplies of our skin care products can be posted to your home directly. If you want to find out more about our increasing range of skin care products please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are still seeing patients when it is appropriate and necessary. However, we want to protect all our patients, staff and the whole population so we are also offering virtual and telephone consultations in support of the government’s social distancing advice. For this reason, we have suspended all cosmetic procedures and are only seeing medical emergencies. Please contact our clinic before you travel to see us so we can together assess if it is safer for you to have a telephone or virtual consultation rather than being seen face-to-face.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on 01892 517620. We want to reassure you that we are doing all that we can to continue to offer an excellent and safe service to all patients with skin problems.
We are doing all we can to protect our patients and staff, while at the same time providing the highest quality and safest dermatology care at this challenging time.
We hope you all keep safe and well and look forward to seeing in person in the future.
